Pelvic Floor Therapy
Pelvic floor physical therapy begins with a comprehensive, individualized assessment to identify the factors contributing to pain, weakness, dysfunction, or changes in bladder, bowel, and sexual function. The evaluation may include assessment of posture, breathing mechanics, core and hip strength, mobility, movement patterns, and pelvic floor muscle function. Because pelvic floor symptoms are often influenced by multiple areas of the body, our therapists take a whole-person approach to determine the underlying causes of each patient’s condition and develop a treatment plan based on their specific needs and goals.
Treatment is tailored to the individual and may include hands-on manual therapy, pelvic floor muscle retraining, strengthening or relaxation techniques, breathing and core coordination, mobility exercises, and education to improve daily function and long-term symptom management. We commonly treat conditions such as pelvic pain, urinary or bowel dysfunction, pelvic floor weakness, pregnancy- and postpartum-related concerns, and symptoms following pelvic or abdominal surgery. Our goal is to provide a comfortable, respectful environment while helping each patient restore function, reduce symptoms, and confidently return to the activities that matter most.
